Overview
In our recent post discussing 'Using Measurements In Hammer Missions' we briefly looked at calculating the volume of an area with Hammer Missions.
In this post, we will be digging deeper into how to create volumetric measurements using Hammer Missions.
Volumetric measurements, as the title suggests, are used for measuring the volume of an area. This can be very useful for calculating various applications for example spare earth mass on a building site or scrap waste to be removed.
The measurements are currently calculated in m3 or meters cubed.
Before You Start
Measurements shown in this post have been created on a 3D Model that has been processed in the Hammer Hub
To create a 3D Model in the Hammer Hub you would first have to collect your data in the field using the Hammer App
Once your data has been collected you can upload that data to the Hammer Hub and then process it into a 3D Model.

Making Volumetric Measurements In Hammer Missions
In this demo, we will be using the 3D map in full screen.
1: Volumetric measurements in Hammer Missions are calculated using the fourth icon on the menu at the top of the 3D Model as shown below in red:
2: With the volumetric tool selected draw a polygon around the area you wish to measure the volume of by clicking a dot in each of the corners of the desired area.
3: Now the area has been selected press the tick icon as shown below in red.
4: This will calculate the volume of the area you have selected as shown below.
5: You will see from the video below that the volume is measured at height to give you an accurate representation of the volume of the mass that you are trying to measure.
6: To delete this measurement select the bin icon and then select one of the blue dots to remove the volume measurement as shown below:
