Introducing DJI Mini 3 Pro Support in Hammer Missions

Like smartphones, drones have gone through a metamorphosis in their short history. Does anyone remember the first widely available quadcopter? Well, it’s 14 years since Parrot unveiled their AR Drone at CES and so much has changed since. Considered lightweight at the time, the AR 2.0 weighed in at 1.8kg and measured 58cm across. Today we’re celebrating adding support for yet another evolution in drone technology - a drone weighing in at under 250g, it’s the DJI Mini 3 Pro.

Unfolded, the DJI Mini 3 Pro measures just 25cm x 36cm x 7cm and with its extremely light weight it faces fewer regulatory hurdles, making it more accessible for many use-cases.

Let’s quickly look at why the DJI Mini 3 Pro should be on your radar and what you can achieve using it with Hammer Missions.

Small But Mighty: The DJI Mini 3 Pro

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is packed with impressive features that make it a standout in its category:

  • Ultra-Lightweight Design: At 249 grams, it lowers many regulatory requirements.

  • High-Quality Camera: Capable of 4K HDR video and 48MP photos.

  • Extended Battery Life: Offers up to 34 minutes of flight time.

  • Advanced Safety Features: Includes obstacle sensing in three directions.

  • Intelligent Flight Modes: Features such as FocusTrack, MasterShots, and QuickTransfer.

When flying the DJI Mini 3 Pro with Hammer Missions, keep these tips in mind:

  • Avoid Windy Conditions: Do not fly in strong winds! We cannot stress this enough.

  • Ensure Good Connectivity: Avoid areas with low connectivity to prevent signal loss.

Capturing Datasets

The DJI Mini 3 Pro excels in capturing high-quality building inspection datasets with minimal effort. Here are some examples:

  • Roof Dataset: Thanks to this tiny drone's superior camera quality, only a few images were required.

  • Facade Dataset: Similarly, capturing facade images required only a few shots.

These examples highlight the drone's ability to deliver high-quality results efficiently.

Summary

Our experience integrating the DJI Mini 3 Pro into Hammer Missions has been outstanding. The lightweight nature of the drone makes it a dream to get to site and the flight time and camera quality make it ideal for conducting periodic or regular building inspections.

If you’re just venturing into drone inspections or you already have an existing drone program and use Hammer Missions, try out the Mini 3 Pro - we promise, you’ll be glad you did!
